100-Ton Haul Truck Bed Lining Conversion

Project

An open-pit copper mine running 12 × 100-ton haul trucks needed to address chronic carry-back of damp copper ore. Operators were spending ~15 minutes/shift back-blading the dump pad to recover stuck ore. Cumulative loss: ~120 truck-hours/week.

Conversion Spec

• Bed liner: 20 mm UHMWPE PE1000, cut to truck bed drawing
• Hold-down: M16 countersunk through-bolted to bed steel on 400 mm grid
• Edge sealing: Welded steel edge strip prevents ore intrusion under the liner
• Lead time: 22 days FOB for all 12 trucks (one 20 FCL)

Outcome

Carry-back eliminated to operator-reported "essentially zero". Average dump cycle 18 % faster (no back-blading time). Bed weight down 1.2 tons per truck — modest payload increase. Liner expected service life: 4-6 years based on similar installations.
